Type A changes its name

CHICAGO (10 December 2004)- The company formerly known as Type A Multimedia Network has changed its name to Type A Learning Agency to reflect more accurately the range of services it offers to its clients.

"These days, many of the organizations we serve already have the multimedia skills to develop basic e-learning courses on their own," explains Type A CEO Anna Belyaev, "but they turn to us when they need something special -- something more lasting, more compelling, or more strategic than the average online course or in-house e-learning team can deliver."

For example, in place of the traditional online course, Type A may now recommend an innovation Belyaev calls the "e-learning campaign." This blended learning solution is structured like an advertising campaign, with a series of interactions spread out over time to drive specific, strategic business results. In fact, the evolution of e-learning from a single event to a series of planned events is what first inspired Type A to see itself as an "agency."

The campaign approach is not the only resemblance between Type A and an advertising agency. "Many e-learning companies are working from a production team mindset and take limited interest in their clients' broader business objectives," says Belyaev. "Type A adopts an executive mindset, and digs deeper to understand the process, brand, and communication challenges that our e-learning solutions can help address. Like a trusted ad agency, we make a commitment to our clients' success that extends beyond any single project."

Instructional Designer Gretchen Hartke echoes this point. "We're more than just a courseware developer -- we're a partner in finding the right approach to meet our clients' human performance goals. Organizations should consider Type A whenever they need creative, effective, engaging solutions, which may or may not fit the traditional definition of e-learning."

The company is already using its new name, but in case you get confused, says Belyaev, "You can still call us by our first name: Type A."
